My husband and I will spend the last few days of April, and the better part of May travelling Northern - Central Italy. Read about our travels as we go.

San Marco Square
The best, the very best thing about staying right in San Marco's Square is that no matter how lost we get (and we get lost) we can always find our way back. As for people staying elsewhere, I don't know how they do it. We went to San Marco's Basilica (church) today. It is in the same category as the duomo. Absolutely amazing! All the art on the walls (which covers 8000m2)is done by tiny tiny tiles no bigger the my finger nail. You really can't believe it when you are looking at it. We spent the rest of the day wondering the streets. Many are as big as the hallways in our houses. It is a struggle for two people to pass each other. For me - this is the best part. The wondering not the people. The amount of people is actually the only draw back so far.
I then treated myself to the best olives I have ever tasted. I like to call them Olives naturel, or Playdoh olives. They are yummy! I think that is what I might have for dinner tonight. I apologize to those (probably only one person) that this detail will cause you to turn a deep shade of green - much like the colour of the olives. I will think of you while I enjoy them!
After getting ourselves 100% lost (completing our mission for the day) we stopped for lunch. We ate right on the water and ate until we couldn't move. We had burrata, scampi, pasta primavera, monk fish, bass, tiramisu, a bottle of Soave and 2 expressos (mine was decaf as many of you know I would be swinging from the ceiling rafters otherwise). What you must know is that both Trevor and I hate coffee. We decided after this enormous meal we must at least try one. Well glad I tried it, and can cross it off my list, but it was awful! The rest of the meal was wonderful.
We are now taking a quick break as many things have closed for a couple of hours.

Hooray for playdough olives one of many things to bring home to ME! I did not appreciate your coffee bashing, however. But thank god you had decaf. Italy is NOT ready for Red java'd up.
